Heather Simko

The first picture is of me overlooking a volcanic crater in Costa Rica. The second picture is me kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland, while the third picture is me freezing standing in the center of the stones at Stone Henge, in England.I attended the University of Akron after graduation and received my BS in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Polymer Science. I took the summer off after college graduation and traveled to Europe then started my masters. However, plans changed when I received a job offer from the Department of Defense. I now live in Washington DC (I'm about 6 blocks from the Capitol building) and work for the Missile Defense Agency as an engineer / research area lead. I have lived and worked in DC for a little over three years now. I travel a lot around the US for my job and thus take my vacations overseas, which prompted me to take up photography as a hobby.
